UPS Communications Summer Internship

UPS, a global leader in logistics and the world’s largest transportation services company, seeks college students to apply for the UPS Communications summer internship in the UPS Headquarters office in Atlanta, GA. The program is designed to attract and develop mature, intelligent communicators with a long-term desire to pursue a career in strategic communications, social media or a similar field.

The internship will run from May 2021 through August 2021 – and is a full-time, time-limited position. The chosen applicant will be expected to work 40 hours per week, with negotiable specific start and end dates. Applicants should have a background that includes undergraduate school experience in communications, public relations, journalism, social media or other writing-intensive field. The position requires excellent research, writing, verbal communication, and analytical skills. The successful applicant will have a strong interest in better understanding how earned and owned media, as well as thought leadership communications, advance a company’s business and reputation goals.

The chosen intern will support the company’s thought leadership positioning through external communications focused on UPS’s three-pillar strategy: Customer First. People Led. Innovation Driven.

Applications are open to students at any accredited U.S. college who will have completed their sophomore year in good standing by the end of the spring 2021 semester. Applicants from Georgia colleges and universities, particularly students currently enrolled at Atlanta-area HBCUs (Historically Black Colleges and Universities), will be prioritized for this position. UPS does not pay relocation or housing costs.

Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities:
Supports the development, design and production of visual design
Applies creative solutions to support the campaign plan
Understands uniqueness of UPS employees and adapts style to best reach audiences
Brings outside the box thinking and creativity while remaining consistent with UPS brand and communication style
Designs and adapts content to be used across all channels (including social media, speeches, digital displays, print, video etc)
Works with design team (Supervisor and Manager) to ensure content meets campaign needs before final publication
Produces content that meets brand guidelines.
Responsible for producing quality work, on time, with exceptional attention to detail
Providing general administrative and other support as needed;

Desired Knowledge and Skill Set:
Candidates should have a long-term desire for a career in communications, public relations, social media, public policy or government affairs. Position requires strong writing, editing, and research skills. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, and Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and/or Photoshop. If the applicant does not have experience with the Adobe Creative Suite, they are welcome to provide work samples indicating their ability to create advertisements and social media graphics in other programs.

The ability to both work well under pressure and multi-task effectively and independently are critical to job success. Strong communication skills and the aptitude to synthesize information, while adhering to firm deadlines, is also critical.
