Happy Holidays from the Atlanta Press Club, and thank you for your support and involvement this year. We are looking forward to the start of a new decade and are pleased to announce that it’s coming for us with new leadership. The board of directors of the Atlanta Press Club has recently appointed Kristi Wooten as our next president. Kristi is a journalist by training, but she also has great experience working with some of Atlanta’s most well-known non-profit organizations, including CARE and the Center for Civil and Human Rights.
Kristi’s first day with the Atlanta Press Club will be January 21, 2020. We are excited about this transition and confident that Kristi, in tandem with our board, administrative committees, and membership director, Sheena Roetman, will continue to move the Club forward and serve the needs of our journalism community.
Here’s some more on Kristi:
Kristi York Wooten is a media and marketing professional with 15+ years’ experience in direct marketing, events and campaigns for organizations such as CARE, AmericasMart Atlanta and Georgia Tech. She is also a successful journalist and content producer, working with publications such as The New York Times, The Economist, Rolling Stone, The Wall Street Journal, Atlanta Magazine and others, on music, architecture, global health, and human rights. She is a seasoned writer, interviewer, and speaker. Kristi lives in metro Atlanta with her husband and daughter.
To further ensure continuity in 2020, the board has asked me to serve a second term as chair and I have gladly accepted. This is a pivotal time for journalism and I’m proud to serve one of the top organizations for our profession.
Also, I would like to thank Interim President Lauri Strauss on behalf of the club for her outstanding work this past year. We expect her to remain involved in the club in various capacities in the coming years, which makes us quite fortunate.
Please help us welcome Kristi to the team, and as always, let me know if you have any questions or feedback about APC at email@example.com.
