Summer Associate

WGCL-TV & WPCH TV are owned and operated by the Meredith Local Media Group. Meredith’s Local Media Group includes 17 television stations reaching more than 10 percent of U.S. households. Meredith’s portfolio is concentrated in large, fast-growing markets, with seven stations in the nation’s Top 25 – including Atlanta, Phoenix, St. Louis, and Portland – and 14 in Top 60 markets. Meredith’s stations produce approximately 745 hours of local news and entertainment content each week and operate leading local digital destinations. The program is designed to teach rising college or university seniors, graduating seniors and recent grads (2020 or later) what it takes to produce content in Meredith’s Local Media Group.

For 12 weeks (6/7/21-8/27/21 est) the Associate will work at one of the stations in of the top ten markets in the US – WGCL-TV & WPCH TV, aka CBS46.

The Associate will be placed within news department and will work closely with that team; but will also have opportunities to network and learn about different aspects of the business through a dedicated mentor, orientation, and a speaker series.  Throughout the summer, the Associate will work together on a project and will have the opportunity to present the project to Meredith’s Senior Leaders.  This is a paid program that will start fully remote but may evolve to be in person in the assigned office location.

50% Interns will work with Content Center Producers, Reporters, Photographers, and Anchors.  Assignments include but are not limited to gathering data on developing stories, logging content, and developing digital only content. Other duties will be assigned as needed.

Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements | All must be met to be considered.

Education: Must be a current full-time junior, senior or graduate level student at an accredited journalism college or university at the time of application, or a 2020 college graduate.

Experience: Related coursework and a prior media related internship or experience required.

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to work well with others and complete assignments accurately under tight deadlines is required.
