The Atlanta Press Club seeks part-time Administrative and Accounting Coordinator

The Atlanta Press Club’s mission is to serve the evolving professional, educational and social needs of our media community, foster journalistic excellence and advance the public’s interest in and understanding of a free press.

The Atlanta Press Club, established in 1964, has grown to become one of the largest and most active professional journalism associations in the country. The membership encompasses Atlanta’s media community, advocates and supporters — print, broadcast and digital, big and small, national and local media outlets and freelance journalists. The APC hosts multiple events per month, including the nationally-recognized Newsmaker Luncheon Series, Hall of Fame gala, annual Awards of Excellence event, industry-specific programs, workshops with partner organizations and networking events for members and the public. During election years, the Atlanta Press Club hosts televised political debates through the Loudermilk-Young Debate Series.

SUMMARY:
Responsibilities include bookkeeping, administrative support, internal and external communications, database management and general office and special event support. A collaborative spirit and a commitment to the mission of the Atlanta Press Club are essential.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
This position requires high level of confidentiality, judgment, excellent customer service and professionalism at all times.
The successful candidate will have the ability to maintain a high level of attention to detail while effectively multi-tasking and working independently to meet various deadlines.
Computer literacy with an intermediate level in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Administrative experience within the non-profit sector is preferred.
Familiarity with QuickBooks, database CRM software (NEON), website management platforms (WordPress) and AP style are a plus.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Provides direct administrative support to the Executive Director, Membership Director, officers of the Board and members of the Atlanta Press Club.
Responds to incoming telephone calls and e-mail communications.
Reviews incoming correspondence and identifies items of special interest; handles routine correspondence and prepares appropriate responses.
Prepares material and information for events, board meetings, membership, donors and partnered organizations.
Schedules meetings and handles logistics for meetings and special events.
Performs mid-level bookkeeping and accounting duties. Initiates, processes, and maintains records and invoices.
Maintains databases and spreadsheets; may also analyze data and design/generate associated reports.
Oversees ordering and maintenance of office supplies.
Performs related responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A high school diploma or equivalent and five years of related experience, or a bachelor’s degree. Proficiency with various personal computer software applications.
