Membership Benefits...Membership to the Atlanta Press Club has never afforded as many benefits to reporters and media professionals as it does today. Along with the social and networking benefits that come with belonging to the largest local press club in the United States, APC has recently created a package of entertainment and professional discounts that include discounted offerings at area restaurants, health clubs, book stores, hotels and car rental. Current APC members can access these discounts by presenting their membership ID card to the participating vendors. SOCIAL & NETWORKING BENEFITSNetwork with Atlanta’s Leading ReportersThe Atlanta Press Club affords members a first-rate opportunity to network and socialize with the city’s leading journalists, media professionals, image and policy shapers. Over half of our 800 members are journalists coming from Atlanta’s full media community--broadcast, print and online from both national and local media outlets. Free Admission to Monthly ForumsMembers receive free admission to the Press Club’s monthly forums that feature local and national newsmakers tackling the industry’s most pressing issues. The purpose of our programs is to challenge journalists to cast a critical eye on what we do and how we do it. Discounted Tickets to Special EventsAPC discounts admission tickets to some of Atlanta’s marquee events for the media. At the Holiday Author Party, over 30 national and local authors are available to sign their books and mix with guests. The Annual Gala is a night to celebrate achievement in journalism through awards and a nationally known keynote speaker. And the ever popular spring event, the Gorilla Ball, is a night of lunacy as local TV news stations and CNN compete for the coveted “Otto Focus Award” for outstanding video bloopers. Educational WorkshopsMembers receive discounts on admission to educational workshops designed to help you stay marketable in the journalism industry. Recent workshop topics have included how to use the Internet for investigative reporting, how to conduct an interview, how to build your freelance business, and how get your book manuscript published. |
